Dental Scaling

BEST SCALING AND POLISHING DENTAL CLINIC

Tooth Scaling (commonly called tooth cleaning) refers to the removal of dirt accumulated over the tooth surface. Bacteria present in the mouth lead to plaque formation which accumulates over a period of time and forms hard calculus. At times, these deposits also give a bad breath (halitosis) and also lead to gum disease or pyorrhea. At this stage, it is difficult to remove these deposits by brushing alone and professional cleaning is indicated.

Tooth Scaling does not weaken your teeth. Scaling is done with an ultrasonic machine which is designed “only to vibrate and not cut” over the surface of your teeth. It is recommended to get professional teeth cleaning done at least once in six months.

Tooth polishing is a procedure done to smoothen the surface of the teeth after scaling. Polished teeth accumulate less dirt and debris and improve long-term gum health. The procedure involves use of a rubber cup and a polishing paste to give a smooth and clean feel to the teeth.

TOOTH WHITENING AT BEST DENTAL CLINIC

Teeth whitening (bleaching) is a process of removing intrinsic stains from the tooth surface and restoring the natural color of the teeth. It is among the most common and widely adopted cosmetic procedure. Common causes of tooth discoloration include frequent consumption of tea, coffee, wine or cola, smoking cigarettes and chewing tobacco, high intake of fluoride during childhood, damage to developing permanent teeth due to accident or trauma and aging to name a few.

It is necessary to perform a complete cleaning and polishing procedure before beginning the tooth whitening process. The whitening gel is then applied which is absorbed into the deeper layers of the tooth. The procedure takes about an hour and may require more than one appointment depending on the severity of discoloration.
