Root Canal Treatment (RCT), also called Endodontic Treatment is a procedure done when tooth decay has involved the pulp (innermost layer of the tooth) causing pain and inflammation. Pain can range from mild to severe. It may worsen with time and consequently you will be unable to chew food from the affected side. Performing RCT not only stops the infection from spreading but also relieves the patient from pain and inflammation.

RCT can be performed in a single visit or can take multiple visits, depending on the infection in the tooth. The procedure involves thorough cleaning and disinfection of the canals of the affected tooth. Clean and disinfected canals are then filled with a biocompatible material known as Gutta-Percha. The tooth is then restored with a permanent filling material, followed by a crown in majority of the cases.
